Quickup Camper: A Hardsided Truck Camper That Folds Up Nicely

I have looked at this video of a fold up truck camper many times, but I couldn’t find any information about who made it or how to buy it, so I never posted it here.

The people at Tiny House Talk were able to identify it. It’s the Quickup Camper, manufactured by Jay Baldwin. He is a famous industrial engineer who was responsible for the popularity of geodesic domes and other green architecture.

Here are some pictures of it:

At a price point of $12,000, however, this camper is very pricey for what you get. For just over that cost ($16,377), you could buy a bottom of the line Lance 825 Camper with all the same amenities as the Quickup and adds a toilet, shower and separate dinette area.

Of course, you don’t get the low profile with the Lance 825 that you get with the Quickup. I’m sure there are some problems with wind resistance with a truck camper with a bed over the cab like this one.

In the end, you pay a premium and sacrifice some amenities for a camper that folds up so compactly as the Quickup Camper does. What the Quickup may lack in bathroom facilities, however, it makes up in wow factor. I’m sure every time you pull into a campground, you end up with people interested in your camper. If that’s what you’re looking for, then this camper will surely draw attention.
