Aliner Storage Addition
I am beginning to think that the Costco parking lot is the BEST place to see cool campers. I saw this classic Aliner yesterday and I was lucky enough to talk to the owner about the storage he added on the back of the camper.
More details after the break:
He made the storage box on the back himself. I was so impressed.
He took a metals class in high school, so he had a little experience working with aluminum. He said he had to buy a sheet metal break machine to bend the metal. I had never heard of the machine, so it was new for me.
I love how he added a spare tire rack to the back of it.
He said he framed it in wood.
I asked him how he got the box to match the curve of his camper and he said he made a template out of cardboard. He would hold it up to where it needed to be and shave it off, little by little until it was a perfect fit. Then he used the cardboard as a template to cut the metal. Genius!!
I love to see the ingenuity that people display when they trick out their campers and I’m so glad I was able to catch the owner while he was leaving so he could show me his handiwork!
