Interstellar Orchard’s Intro to Travel Photography

Filed under: Photos — Laura Moncur @ 10:53 am

Travel Photography Tips from Interstellar OrchardIf you want to take great pictures when you’re traveling, Interstellar Orchard has some very good tips for you:

For me, a trip didn’t happen if I didn’t take pictures of it. If there isn’t a folder on my hard drive labeled with a date and place, then the trip will be forgotten within a year. I realize the limitation of my memory, especially for visual things, so I take tons of pictures, but none of them as lovely as hers. I’m so glad she posted this tutorial, especially about how to take pictures of your rig. So helpful!!

Highly Modified 1987 Scamp Fifth-Wheel

I found this Scamp Fifth-Wheel for sale on Craigslist and it amused me greatly. I love it when people put their own personality into a camper and this camper now has quite a bit of personality.

Time Lapse of Yellowstone National Park

Filed under: Places To Visit,Wyoming — Laura Moncur @ 8:33 am

This time lapse video of Yellowstone is STUNNING!

I love the view of Grand Prismatic Springs from above because it’s so hard to get there on your own. When you see it, it’s usually from the bottom, where you can’t see the whole thing. It looks so good and makes me miss Yellowstone.

Jeep Action Camper

As cool as Stacey and Dan’s Teardrop looks, I can’t help but love this Jeep Action Camper!

Here is a video slide show of it:

Here’s how easy it is to get from the cab to the camper (if you’re bendy).

I like this design and I love that it turns a Jeep into a compact camper. So awesome!

Kleine Cabine

Filed under: Teardrops & Tiny Trailers — Laura Moncur @ 8:00 am

I saw this camper on Facebook and I just fell in love with it!

Kleine Cabine from Starling Travel

The full description is available on Instructables:

Kleine Cabine, Dutch for Little Cabin. You are looking at a one-of-a-kind Douglas fir camper, pop top with ALL solid wood.

I had never thought of making a pop-top out of wood. For some reason, I always thought that I would need to buy one or salvage one off another vehicle. This idea opens up a bunch of options for me!

Features are: 50 ft RV cable, 2-6 volt golf cart batteries, 50 Watt solar panel, upper cabinet space with storage under the bed.

The Vitality of Thought Is in Adventure

Filed under: Travel — Laura Moncur @ 8:00 am

I adore this quote and think about it often when I can’t travel.

The vitality of thought is in adventure. Ideas won't keep. Something must be done about them. Alfred North Whitehead from The Quotations Page

It reads:

The vitality of thought is in adventure. Ideas won’t keep. Something must be done about them.

  • Alfred North Whitehead

Whenever I am feeling cooped up and unable to travel, I make a plan. I plan a short and inexpensive trip that we can take that is fun and enjoyable. We are in the middle of the Christmas holidays and I can’t just hitch up the camper and run away, so I plan. We have a few weeks free in a month or so, so we are going to take the camper and go somewhere fun.

I might not be able to take an adventure today, but I refuse to let my dreams of travel just stay an idea. Something must be DONE about them!

I found this trailer on KSL Classifieds and I’m strangely impressed with it.

I’ll leave Mark to the description:

This unique New Trailer design is perfect for the sand dunes or hunter that wants a warm place to sleep and haul a 4 Wheeler with ease!

You can also take out the bed and haul things with the back ramp that lowers and it has a sliding door to get inside from the front as well that way you leave the ramp closed!

You can also just put a Hammock and a couple of chairs inside and have a little living space!

It comes with full size bed and buddy heater!

I used it on the deer hunt and stayed nice and warm with the heater! Come and check it out! I am also renting this unit for $100 a day so call if interested! Mark Home 801-706-2406 and Work 801-706-2406

Toy haulers are an entire category of campers that I have neglected mostly because I don’t like to ride “toys.” If however, it’s just you and one other person, this camper might be perfect. A bed and a way to haul your four-wheeler is all you need sometimes.

A Jeep And A Teardrop

You might recall that in 2012, Mike and I traveled the country in a teardrop trailer that I adored. When Sean came to live with us, however, there just wasn’t enough room for all three of us in that tiny trailer, so we sold it to Stacey and Dan, my sister and brother-in-law.

They now have the PERFECT tow vehicle to match it!

Here is another photo from the other side.

Even though that Jeep can haul WAY more than that tiny teardrop, they look absolutely perfect together and I die of jealousy every time we go camping together!

Camping In Yellowstone

Filed under: Camping,Places To Visit,Teardrops & Tiny Trailers,Wyoming — Laura Moncur @ 8:00 am

This photo just made me wish so hard for a time machine.

Camping in Yellowstone from Starling Travel

I really believe that if I invented a time machine, I wouldn’t use it to kill Hitler. I would use it to travel to a Yellowstone that was filled with bears and retro campers. Is that wrong?

A Better Homemade Awning

Filed under: Camping,Motorhomes and Campers,Teardrops & Tiny Trailers — Laura Moncur @ 8:00 am

I have finally done it. I have made a good awning, that is lightweight, adorable and sturdy in the wind!

Here it is from another angle:

If you remember, I had some trouble with my awning before. You can read about it here:

I fixed the problem of it falling down in the wind and made it even more portable. Read more to see how: (Continue Reading…)
