San Antonio, Texas: Andean Fusion
When you head out of the Rivercenter Mall toward the Riverwalk, you hear the haunting sounds of Andean Fusion. You can’t escape it. They play there live almost every day of the year and in the evenings, when they finally go home, the overhead music plays their music. You might think that the sound of flutes playing classic hits might be irritating after a week in San Antonio, but I loved them even on the day I left. Here an example of what you can see:
I love to find local musicians wherever I travel, so I immediately bought a CD from the table by the players. Imagine my surprise when I found an album by Andean Fusion on Amazon.com. You can find even more of their albums on their official website:
Over the week that I stayed in San Antonio, I noticed that there are many members of the group. They switch out every day and even switch instruments during a set. One of my favorite moments in San Antonio involved just sitting in the open air, listening to the music and feeding the pigeons.

I have been searching for info on this group since my visit to San Antonio in October 2006. I absolutely fell in love with the music.

I have lived in San Antonio all my life, but hadn’t visited the Riverwalk in years. Now that I am retired and widowed I have started going for walks along the Riverwalk. So I was very happy to discover Andean Fusion. What a fantastic little band. I never thought I would enjoy bamboo wind instruments so much. Unfortunately my walks are shortened due to spending so much time outside the Rivercenter Mall listening to this wonderful, relaxing music.

In reply to greenom, Andean Fusion has several CDs for sale on site on the Riverwalk, and if you Google Andean Fusion, you will find a lot of information on them and where to purchase their CDs. Please come back and visit us again. Part of my enjoyment on the Riverwalk is watching tourists enjoying our wonderful city. Thanks.

I knew a Melvin Miller who lived on Briggs Ave in So. San Antonio in the 50’s.
We were friends then, we were around 13 yrs of age.
Wouldn’t be wonderful to find my old friend again.
I just visited my hometown again and my brothers and I went to the River Center Mall. We listened to this band and I fell in love with this music.
It is enchanting and the most beautiful sound.
